So, we arrive in Christchurch, our first port of call in New Zealand. Immediately we are struck by the resemblance to a typical English town – not a good sign we think. However, we delve deeper into the fabric of the place and find some parts very attractive and others not so. Once we found the ‘touristy/historic’ areas we were fine. Just a shock after experiencing Australia’s ‘grandeur’ for the previous 6 weeks.
Anyway, settle in for 3 days and start to find our way around. The Christchurch Gondola takes us up Mount Cavendish and provides a good day out with great views overlooking the surrounding coastline. We spend most of the days sightseeing and frequenting one or two rather nice restaurants/bars!
Not the most exciting of stays.
