Hi friends! I wanted to tell you all about my missions trip to Russia- how it went, what I did, who I met, and how the Lord blessed me there.
After arriving at the airport on Tuesday, February 10th, our team spent the first day sightseeing downtown Moscow, getting cool Russian souvenirs, and enjoying the Russian food and culture. The next couple days in Russia were spent at the Moscow Bible college. During that time, our team had Bible studies with Debbie Bryson, and spent time bonding with the team, and preparing for our ministries for the following week.
On Friday, the Moscow team embarked on a three hour journey to Ramenskaya to host a women's conference on Saturday, February 14th. The theme of the conference was "Blessed," and the main scripture used was Psalm 1. The conference was an amazing blessing to the team, and the women attending. I got to meet so many wonderful Russian women and young girls, and was able to encourage them, fellowship with them, and pray with them. During the conference, I also got to work in the childcare(!!), having lots of fun with the little Russian kids.
On Sunday, the Moscow team split up into 3 groups, each group going to a different church and afterwards, hosting a women's fellowship for the women in that church. My group went to Calvary Chapel 1905, and after the service, we spent the rest of the day fellowshipping with the women of that church, and hosting a Bible study and luncheon at the pastor's wife's house.
Monday and Tuesday were spent doing orphanage work in a country orphanage in Tver. The orphanage we went to wasn't just an orphanage; it was a "first stop" - a place where kids could stay if their family couldn't afford to support them anymore; and it also held kids who were only there temporarily. These orphanage visits were my favorite. It was a blessing for me to be a blessing to these kids. Our team brought bubbles, crafts, all kinds of games, coloring, skits, songs, face painting, and much more. But, my favorite thing that we brought wasn't the toys or the crafts, it was the gift of Christ's love that we got to pour out on them. Those kids needed so much love, and Christ had soooo much to give them. I’m just grateful to Him that I got to be a vessel of that love for them.
Saying goodbye to the orphans and the other children was really tough. But the end of our trip was coming closer, and Tuesday night we headed back to the Moscow Bible college. Wednesday was a free day for us. We were able to relax, and come together as a team to share our stories of all that the Lord had done during our trip.
Since my team consisted of women all across the US, saying goodbye to them was hard too. I’m thankful, however, for the time that I did get to spend with them, and hope that I will get to see them again soon. Thursday morning, our team departed for the airport, and we all began our journeys home.
Overall, this Russia trip was a good experience. I was able to be used by God, bless His children, and be blessed by Him in return. I learned a lot about myself, and about God’s heart for the lost Russian people. I hope that you all enjoyed reading my stories :) Thank you for all of your prayers too! They mean so much to me! God bless!
Love in Christ, Becky
