I took the Perama bus to Kuta today about 1.5 hours by bus. I had some lunch and enjoyed sitting on the beach and watching the surf crowd. I got a massage from an old woman (not very good) and I said no than you to hundreds of people trying to sell me things, do massages, manicures or pedicures. I don’t really like the beaches here for this reason. However that said the beach was prettier than I remember and the sounds of the waves crashing was a nice change to the sounds of Ubud. I looked in some shops and bought 14 new movies to watch for $10. I did not take many pictures just a few bizarre mannequins for my mannequin collection. For some reason I have a thing for mannequins and over the years I have taken some pretty cool pictures of them from all over the world. The last bus back to ubud leaves at 4:30 pm so I did not really have that much time here. It would have been fun to stick around and check out some of the night clubs. One year I will have to spend one night in Kuta. The Kuta nightclub district is where the bombs were set off back in October of 2002. This was just months after I visited Bali for the first time. Bali has still not fully recovered from this, as it scarred so many tourists away. Then just as things were picking up a little the under sea earthquake resulting Tsunami or tidal wave killed thousands off of the Achek peninsula and Adaman & Nicobar Islands. World news coverage added to the growing fears of travel to Indonesia.
