Hello all, I feel like it has been a while since I've written anything, so I thought it might be time for a bit of an update. Most of my travels are happening on the weekends (classes during the week hinder the whole travel thing). Two weekends ago I spent some time in Edinburgh. I have been to Edinburgh a couple of times now, but I really like it, so I don't mind going back. Arcadia (my program) has free tickets to a bunch of events, such at concerts, rugby matches, etc. so I got a free ticket to go see the play The Mystery of Irma Vep. The play was not actually very good; it was supposed to be funny, but it really wasn't. I didn't really mind though because the tickets were free and it gave me an excuse to spend some time in Edinburgh
Last weekend, however, was quite fun. On Friday I went to a concert up in Perth (it's about a 30 minute train ride from Stirling) with two friends. We went to see the Warsaw Village Band and the Peatbog Faeries. The Warsaw Village Band was good, but I really went to see the Peatbog Faeries, and they were great. They play modern celtic music and it was very entertaining. Plus, I really like bagpipes and can't seem to get enough of them, so it was fun to listen to them. The Peatbog Faeries consisted of a piper, 2 fiddles, 2 saxes, a trombone, an electric guitar, an electric bass, a drum set, and a keyboard. If you have any interest in listening to some of their songs, you can go to their myspace page (yes, I know, very modern of them) at www.myspace.com/peatbogfaeries. If you listen, let me know what you think or if you like them, I'm interested in what other people think of them. The rest of that weekend was spent writing my first paper that was due on Monday (it was a little one, but I now feel like an accomplished UK academic).

I am really looking forward to this next weekend. I am going on a 3-day tour of the Isle of Skye, which is one of the better known northern islands in Scotland. Along the way we are stopping at Loch Ness, so I'll keep an eye out for Nessie. I will make sure to take lots of pictures and give you all an update when I get back.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their winter/spring.
