- London Bridge: "London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down..." (children's rhyme) - Gloucester: "Doctor Foster went to Gloucester in a shower of rain..." (as above) - Buckingham Palace: "...Christopher Robin went down with Alice..." (poem by A. A. Milne?) - Guilford: "...somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse, and not from Guilford after all." (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams.) - Islington: something about the phone number of a flat in Islington where Arthur had met Trillian at a party? (ibid.) - Fenchurch St Station: So Long and Thanks for All the Fish, by Douglas Adams. - West Ham: a football poster Ron Weasley was unimpressed with because the figures didn't move - Camden Town: "you little Camden stylie!" (Mighty Boosh radio series) - Topshop: neanderthal replacements for Howard Moon (Mighty Boosh TV series) - Kentish Town: "Kentish Town, Kentish Town, yeah / Kentish Town, Kentish Town, no!" (Soup Song, ibid.) - Hackney: "What about the drains at Hackney?!" (The Goon Show) - East Acton: ibid (don't know why) - Tottenham: "There was a young lady of Tottenham / who had no manners or had forgotten them..." (Goon Show songs album)
From this list it is clear that most of what I know about England I learned from The Goon Show, The Mighty Boosh and the novels of Douglas Adams. Hmmm.
Highlights of London: yet more astrolabes in the Maritime Museum, Pre-Raphaelite paintings in the Tate Britain, and seeing the Hen and Chickens (the Boosh used to have a residency there, before the TV show or the radio series - I obsessively read the obsessive fan reports. Sounded amazing.)
