Stratford-upon-Avon, of course, is all about Shakespeare. I saw where he lived, where his father lived, where Anne Hathaway lived, and where his daughter lived, all of them original Tudor era houses.
My favourite though was the Shakespeare bookshop, where I was fascinated by books on all aspects of the Bard (like feminist readings, whether someone else really wrote his plays, etc).
Sadly however the theatre was between shows when I was there so I didn't get to see a play...
