We left Petchaburi after logging about 20 hours of scooter mobbing. Jordan and I tore up the side streets and backroads of Petchaburi as fast as our little honda 125 scooters would travel ( mine would actually do wheelies--his was old). The second few nights in Petchaburi we stayed at a nice hotel called...something with a P I forget. But regardless of the name, it was 100 percent better than the Jomklow (a.k.a former chinese prison camp/hotel) We fed a buttload of greedy little monkeys and I cut the tip of my index finger off. So all in all it was a great city. We were at the train station waiting in the almost unbearable heat/humidity when I decided that I should put on a little deoderant, good idea right? I reached my hand into my pack to grab out my ditty bag filled with bathroom stuff. As I shoved my hand in I felt something weird, so naturally I shoved harder. Turns out the first wieird sensation was my shaving razor slicing through the back of the nylon bag and cutting my finger and as for the resulting harder shove the slice turned into a missing chunk of index finger. I litterally cut the tip off of my finger less than four feet away from putrid human excrement. Luckily both jordan and I had set up first aid kits just for such and occasion and after much bleeding and even more swearing we had me all closed up tight. It is now four days later and she is healing up fine; although it was a serious pain in the ass to type the letters U, H, or N for a few days I think it will be ok. Right now I am listening to trance inducing techno music plasting out of a tranny bar down the street and for the las hour or so 3 or 4 dudes dressed like ladies have been soliciting potential customers for the nightly cabarae(?) show that they put on. I wish I had some pics for everyone but they're crafty and quick so I think the flash might either scare them away or cause them to attack me, so I have been too chicken without the help of ashley here to photograph them. Two days ago the three of us decided to get scuba certified. Today was our first real day in the water and it was great. Haley was nervous and wasn't sure if she even wanted to do it at all. But today she gave it one hell of an attempt and decided that she should probably learn to swim (with out pluggin the nose) a little more before attempting to Scuba. She did really good though and even swallowed two or three gallons of the salty stuff before calling it a day. We were proud. After all this is a girl who used to plug her nose when jumping out of airplanes; she has come a long way with her nose plugging phobia. Jordan and I are still going through with it though and it has been a blast so far. I think they might take some pics of us later in the progression and if they do I will try and get them on here. We just couldn't pass it up. The instructors are really great, they are from all over the world. It also helps that the water is beautiful and warm; not that the puget sound is cold or anything but this is a much nicer place to get learned. Well thats about it for now, I will try and post some more once we are certified. -Nick
