So Mr and Mrs Ganda left us and flew to Mumbai and proceeded on to the old village. We slept on the beach for a couple more days and then got a train and plane to Delhi, landing at midnight and finding our miserable way to a disgusting hotel in what seemed to be the wrong side of the tracks. Even though we had paid two nights in advance, we checked out at the crack of dawn and tentatively ventured through the smog and dust and filth and chaos and found a fairly decent room for the same price.
Delhi is pretty much disgusting, and the most polluted place we've been. Particularly the air, but not just that. It seems like Delhi is a vast toilet, made worse by the fact that it doesn't rain until monsoon. (We haven't seen a single drop of rain during our six weeks in India). So that part of Delhi was pretty foul.
But the ruins, monuments, - all the ancient stuff - was just fantastic. It was a real highlight of the trip. We went to see an old Muslim mosque and monument called the Qutb Minar. A 72.5m, intricately carved tower made of several types of stone. The largest brick and stone minaret in the world. Beth was more impressed by a 7 high pillar made of 98% pure iron. It's over 1600 years old and hasn't rusted. Pretty cool.
Ok gotta go now - internet place is weird. Thanks for reading!
