Being alone navigating the city has been a great experience. One of my favorite things here is that there is a book stall every few corners where you can pick up a few books for a dollar and bring them back when you are done. I read Coehlo's "The Devil and Miss Prym" and am work on Orhan Pamuk's "Snow." All the time spent on the trains calls for some good reading material after all.
