Road trip baby! Danny, Laura, and I had picked up our spanking 1.8 Toyota Corolla, said our goodbyes to Julie and hit the road following a flyer for a guided tour hoping to do it loads cheaper ourselves! First shift to drive was mine and by some fluke we got out of Melbourne fine and was en-route. The drive was beautiful, apart from Whitehaven beach and parts of Cape Tribulation definitely the most scenic part of Oz so far. Our first day was big old drive stopping at Apollo Bay, Lorne, Twelve Apostles, London Bridge, and some lighthouse that is Australia's oldest which had a $15 entrance fee so we admired from a distance and ended in a placed called Warrnambool. Highlight of the day was definitely the 12 Apostles which actually were only six due to erosion and they not being visible any more.
The next day we drove upto the Grampians National Park (Halls Gap) and to Mackenzie Falls which was really nice. Temp was a bit different to Melbourne reaching upto 43degrees! On the third day we were heading for Adelaide via Naracoorte Caves which were worth seeing and a good excuse to get out of the sun. After three days of driving and about 1300km we got to Adelaide successfully with the only real indecent being Danny nearly running over a Joey and the parking ticket we got which was only $20 so no biggy. Also you'll be pleased to know we saved loads of money doing it ourselves.
In Adelaide we stopped at a town called Glenelgh which was nice, though very holiday town esk popular for the Ozzy's, good hostel but only there for a day. We took the car upto Mt Lofty which gave a good view of Adelaide and then went to an open cellar to taste a bit of wine before dropping the car back in town.
Which finally brings me to today!!! Hurray! Today consisted of a three hour flight to Perth, here for 5days, hopefully do a bit of scuba but after a few recent shark incidents I'm may re-consider then back to Sydney and then onto New Zealand where I'll meet up with Julie and the Boltons! In the meantime I searching for work for when I get back. God I've missed the media industry........
Hope everyone is well and not freezing ya bits off, I'm melting! ha.
