Vegas!

2009-03-01, Las Vegas, United States

We have another pending adventure planned. While it isn't out of the country it is travel none-the-less and we consider every mile covered an adventure. Hell, just traveling to work up route 29 can be an adventure!

Our next scheduled event begins the last weekend of February 2009. We are going with some friends. Troy and Anthony graduated high school together and reunited their friendship at a class reunion.

Otherwise look for photos and more "story" once we return. In the mean time I need to practice staying up until the rooster crows! Or in the case of Vegas, until someone shoots the rooster that crows!

WE'RE BACK!

Vegas was an amazing place to visit. There is no way we could see everything but we gave it a damned good try! My feet HATED me for most of the time! I haven't been that tired in a looooong time! It was great though. We stayed at the Paris Hotel across the street from the Bellagio. The Paris was my ABSOLUTE favorite place there as far as hotels went and believe me we went in a lot of them.

My husband and Stephanie decided to ride the stratosphere rides. WOW! That was crazy but they rode two of the three: X-Scream and Insanity, they didn't ride the Big Shot. I was able to get a couple of picks and some video of them on the X-Scream.

We never ate at a buffet...I don't know how we managed to miss doing that but we did. TRUST ME, its worth waiting in line to eat at one simply because dining outside of one is VERY expensive! We ate at the Rain Forest Cafe at the MGM, Alan Alberts Rosewood Grill, and at Margaritaville to name a few. They were all cool places. We did most of our shopping at Margaritaville.

M&M World is a must. If you LOVE m&m's you'll love that place. It has 4 stories devoted to everything m&m. Fremont Street is another go to place. It is the older part (original "strip") of Vegas. The Dunes and the Sands are gone but the Sahara is still there as well as the Golden Nugget. The real reason we went was to see the famous canopy with over 17 million lights. That was awesome!

If you want a tip on any shows then I can only give you one and that would be to go see O at the Bellagio. It is outstanding!!! The fountains set to music outside the Bellagio are a marvel and have a very distinctive loud sound to them when they shoot water real high. As a matter of fact our hotel room was exceptionally soundproof but I could still hear the fountain when it went off.

We didn't waste a lot gambling, we left that up to the people with real money to play with. There is so much more to do there. We did drop a few dollars but not much, I mean you have to play a little while your there.

Some hotels like the Venetian are so beautiful and big you can't take it all in. It was nice seeing the gondolas and all but its kind of like a big, gorgeous indoor mall. The MGM had real lions inside, they were cool. The Excaliber is interesting and so was the Luxor but unless you are there to do something specific you just keep walking through a series of hotels and they start to run together after a while. So if you can, slow down and smell the roses a little if you have the time.

One of the highlights of our trip was the weather (which was great at 75° when it was only 13° and snowing back in VA) and going to the Hoover Dam. What a neat place that is! I do not have an engineers mind at all but I really enjoyed learning about that place.

Well thats about it, enjoy the photos!
