What better place to unwind than this wonderful country with age old massage and healing traditions. After extensive travels in Australia we felt we needed it.
After eight month of traveling we were back in one of our favorite countries. After staying a day in Bangkok where Aivi met one of her dear friends we flew to Koh Samui, Thailand's third largest island. The island has changed a lot since 1971 when the first two tourists arrived on a coconut boat from Bangkok, but it still has a do-as you-please atmosphere. Koh Samui offers lush tropical forests, coconut plantations, white sandy beaches, granite boulders and clear cool azure waters. We felt far removed from the troubles and turmoils of the modern world and decided to invest in our health.
At the Health Oasis Resort, set on the islands quiet north shore in Bang Por we participated in a 9 day health program with colonic cleansing, fasting, yoga and massage. This was not only a pampering spa, it was more a village community feel about the place, with friendly people, all interested in becoming or staying healthy.
Time passed quickly as the days were occupied with treatments. An efficient method to cleanse the entire cellular system and regenerate at physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels, that made us better prepared for our travels in India.
We took two days to visit the island and the Big Buddha, the islands famous landmark. A 12 meter golden image proudly sitting at the Northeast point of the island and visible from several kilometers away. But we felt more relaxed and peaceful at the resort away from the main tourist areas.
Rejuvenated, flexible and slim and in perfect health we returned to Bangkok for 5 days, to prepare for our 5 weeks in India.
