We arrived in Vientiane after a night train from Bangkok. The train was 2 hours late to the border so it was ealy afternoon when we had finally reached Vientiane and found a guesthouse. We had limited time in Laos so, after taking the advice of other travellers - including Karen's dad, we (Ross) were determined to get cracking and do Vientiane in one day. So we took a tuk tuk to the bizarre buddha park, filled with buddhist statues and sculptures of strange creatures.
Then we did one of Ross' excellent walking tours - however, this one was more of a march, past the arc de triomphe type roundabout and on to the golden stupa. We arrived just in time for sunset and, as a result, got some magnificent photos.
