Workshop Underway in San Miguel

Hello, Friends,

The San Miguel team has been very pleased with the dedication and participation of the teachers who are coming daily for the TEACHER-TO-TEACHER workshop. Some of them ride a bus more than 1 hour each way to be here. Unfortunately we only have 15 in the group rather than the 20 we were hoping for. The UNIVO liaison has been trying to fill the chairs -- we'll see how many we have by the end of this first week.

As many of you already know, we believe students are more likely to learn English if they enjoy the lessons, and teachers are more likely to use the activities if they have actually done them. All of our activities have English usage and teaching techniques imbedded in them. While we engage in a lot of conversation because mostly we want to practice speaking and listening to help teachers become comfortable with native-spoken English, we also work with some reading and writing. Check out the new pictures of us having a good time!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American friends and family! The holiday is not celebrated here so we do have to go to work, but the team is having a little dinner here on the patio at the motel tonight. I think the "menu" has turkey lunch meat plus salmon and other tidbits -- we are enjoying our time together and all agree we have much to be thankful for! May God's blessings be on each of you.

Till next time...
Daphne
