So, it's our last day in Phuket and I'm up early...wondering what to do... The guy at the front desk of the hotel suggests an elephant safari, any time I want to go...sounds like a great idea so he makes a phone call and 30 minutes later Joe1 and I are picked up by this lady in a pick up truck and she takes us about 15 minutes into the woods to an elephant camp.
Wow! This is going to be cool! Our own elephant to take us into the jungle for an hour of sight seeing and adventure. Truly a highlight of the trip. We were up high and trekking through the jungle with our little Thai driver on the head of the elephant, telling it where to go by poking and prodding it behind its ears. He even got down several times to take pictures of us. The sights of the ocean and jungle were amazingly picturesque. On our way we even saw a tiger...okay, it was just a little kitty cat crossing the path but it was still wild!
We then took off to the airport to get back to Bangkok and our luxurious hotel rooms at the Adelphi were waiting for us with first class service. The door man even salutes us when he opens the door.
After another first class meal, we were off in search of a Swensens...but alas, none to be found so no ice cream tonight :-(
However, there was a line of women in high heels and mini skirts at the bus stop...all facing the sidewalk instead of watching for the bus. It was nearly 10pm I couldn't help but wonder why all those women were waiting for a bus so late. Oh well, hope they got home okay. :-)
