We flew to Phuket yesterday which was only a 1 hour flight from Bangkok. Our hotel is in an 'alley' and seems kind of gross from the outside...but heck, it's only $30/night so it's good enough for me. The streets here are lined with more vendors and more ways to spend money than you can shake a stick at. They are starting to annoy us both as I can sense our tempers are getting shorter and shorter. We must say "no thank you" about million times a day.
Today I am on my own and went on my scuba trip. On the ride to the boat, I saw an older man and his baby elephant walking down the street. Way cool!
I and only 5 others boarded a cool Miami Vice style speedboat to the islands of Phi Phi which was a 45 minute bumpy ride out there....good thing for Bonine!
The dives were absolutely amazing....70 feet down and billions of the most colorful fish I've ever seen. Star fish, cucumbers, eels, angel fish, tons of colorful coral, I can't even remember all I saw cause it was so much.
For lunch, the boat stopped in this beautiful lagoon where we could swim in peaceful waters amoung towering cliffs and rocks. We drove by amazing caves where the locals take bird nests from for bird nest soup. And then to monkey island where we got off the boat and fed the wild monkeys. Totally cool.
It was an all day trip and boy did I get burned! Time for another massage!
After a nap and dinner with Joe1, we of course had to end the evening with more ice cream from Swensen's.
