My Crapper Space age with lots of buttons. I kind of felt like Captain Kirk but reality came crashing in when I had to remind myself that I was sitting on a crapper.
I went to the much hyped and overrated Gaspanik bar. Expensive and boring with pushy goons making sure that you drink the expensive beer. I must look like a drug addict sex fiend here. Walking around Roppongi and every African there was offering my drugs and messages. I don’t think there are helping with Japan’s fear of foreigners.
Tsukiji Fish Market Going to a Tuna Auction was never high on my list of things to do but what the hell. And what the hell was I thinking buying 4 tons of Tuna. It was neat to here the auctioneer go at it a mile a minute in Japanese. The market handles more than 400 different types of seafood from tiny sardines to 300kg tuna, from cheap seaweed to the most expensive caviar. Overall, more than 700,000 metric tons of seafood are handled every year at the three seafood markets in Tokyo, with a total value in excess of 600 billion yen (approximately 5.5 billion US dollars). Tsukiji alone handles over 2000 metric tons of seafood per day. The number of registered employees varies from 60,000 to 65,000, including wholesalers, accountants, auctioneers, company officials, and distributors.
I even saw them gut a mermaid. No wonder Sushi is so expensive. Speaking of Sushi, I am basically indifferent to it. If someone says lets go for Sushi it has as much appeal as going for a piece a bread. But I thought seeing come off the boats it would be fresh so I can a lovely helping of Sushi for breakfast. Just like the locals.
I am big in Japan. There is basically me and 9 Japanese guys in my room. So every night I come back drunk, drag them out of their sepultures and challenge them to some Sumo Wrestling. So far Frankieboy in 9 and 0.
Train Pushing I have heard about the men in white gloves that push people on the trains but it is so funny to see in person. The shoving seems so un-Japanese but they pull it off with everyone maintaining their dignity. You can watch it on Youtube. Just a hoot.
Off to Nagano to see the Snow Monkeys tomorrow. Finally get to spend some time with my own people.
