Sharks, Turtles and Sea Horses! I’ll come to that later! Since I last updated, we’ve been to Koh Phi Phi and are now on Koh Lanta. Koh Phi Phi was beautiful! Danny and Laura met us from the pier after a horrible journey over from Koh Tao on a night boat that literally could have been used in the slave trade! You’ll see I’m not exaggerating when I add some photo’s later. The second day on Phi Phi was great weather and we took a long tail boat and did a tour of the islands and the surrounding smaller islands including Maya Beach (‘The Beach’ Beach) and one with a national park which is probably the closest I’ve been to paradise! Didn’t do too much the following day as we were waiting for confirmation that we could dive a ship wreck but as we had some rubbish weather we never got to do it. We did however dive a couple of local sights in a storm which turned out really bad.
31st October came round and so did the Halloween celebrations! There were some funny sights in Phi Phi though I’m not quite sure when cross dressing became a Halloween fancy dress theme! That night I decided to talk to a girl who was sitting at the bar on her own, after my usual drunken rubbish talk I discover she is actually sitting with her producer and we were being filmed as she had won a big brother competition in which they are filming her traveling the world and are broadcasting it online, though I’m sure I didn’t talk too much shite……That night finished up about 5am at which point I returned home to find Cat curled up in a ball locked out of our guesthouse as I had took the key thinking I’d be back first! Whoops.
So the following day both terribly hungover we made our way to Koh Lanta which I’d not really heard a great deal about. The place is really really nice, very chilled out and very picturesque. We’re stopping at Fishermans cottages which are ace and have come over to meet Dan and Jo who we did our open water dive course with. Today Dan and I went Scuba diving for my 12th and 13th dive. Now 13 maybe unlucky for some but my final dive today was sooooooooo amazing I can’t even begin to explain, I only wish I had taken a camera down. After being so unlucky not seeing any big or rare creatures so far we couldn’t have seen more in our final dive. It started off with a yellow sea horse which are really shy and hard to spot, then ten minutes later after turning a corner we came across a leopard shark which was so cool. Thinking too myself the only way this dive could get better would be for a turtle to come along low and behold I spotted one about 10m in front of me. After seeing all that I got a little adventurous and lost the group I was diving with but luckily found them after not so long.
So this is it, my final log for SE Asia, tomorrow we head to Surat Thani, then catch a flight to Bangkok and then the following day make our way to Singapore and Cairns. Loads of traveling, boo. Wow 2 months has flown past. Had an amazing time though, more adventures to come!
