Following a wasted first year in college, myself and 5 frinds decided to go inter-railing around europe. We started in Brussels, by virtue of it being the cheapest place in europe to fly to from Dublin. As none of our party had any desire to see belgium, we were using this as a port to amsterdam...
We flew to Charleroi airport, which was in the middle of nowhere. We waited for around 2 hours for the next bus to take us to Brussels and it's central train station. While here we sampled the Belgian Chocolate and their Belgian Waffles. Both of which were not all we'd hoped... Also, we had plenty of time here to mock our ridiculously hung over friend. Apparently belgium while hung-over is quite dull. So, no change from the clear-headed opinions!
When we got to the central train we got our train-tickets to amsterdam, and stored our gear in lockers. We had 2 hours to kill again, and found the only interesting thing to do in Brussels (by day anyway). We went go-karting! It was €10 for an hour and there didn't seem to be any rules. It was like something out of mario kart! The 6 of us spent the following hour racing around an indoor track and smashing into each other an any given opportunity. As a side-note, being hung-over was cited as an excuse for one member of our party driving like snoop dizzle on valium.
We caught our train and did our best to sit in a first class carriage. We were very quickly found out, and sent back to the horrible plastic seats for the next few hours...
