2007-09-21, Cairo, Egypt

1pm - Papa Flan not happy. He's not happy cos we're leaving our key in its hidy hole. He's also not happy cos we won't be at the airport 13hrs ahead of our flight.

Airport packed. We'd checked in yesterday so baggage was plain sailing. to the bar! 2 pints of Grolsch and 2 Strongbow please! Got on the plane - huge jumbo - KLm - with free wine and delicious food. Italian meal on the Cairo flight... seafood risotto, ceaser salad, a raspberry sorbet and a bottle of wine. Well pleased with that lovely lot and a well smooth flight too.

Disembarked the plane and met our guide 'Zeezoh' and we went to collect our visa. (£10) Took a mini bus and Zeezoh explained our trip in brief and bought us some water from the garage which was a huge relief, felt like I'd been chewing a camel!

Arrived at hotel 4am - lovely place, bars, restraunts and a bog pool. Marble reception area and our rooms are all on ground level and set amongst lush gardens with big windows, huge bathroom and 2 Queen beds and a TV. Hoorah! Excited but tired we watched a bit of TV before falling asleep.
