Greetings from the 1st floor computer lab of CEDES! :-) I hope everyone's doing well and having a great week. By the way, in case you're wondering what in the world CEDES is, it's my favorite place to study/do homework at the Tec because it's quiet! The library, however, most definitely is not quiet, so I don't go there too often. Anyway, I'm glad I have the opportunity to give you guys another update. I'll start with last weekend...

I had to register for classes for next semester Saturday morning at 8:45, so I got up at 7:00 thinking I'd have plenty of time to eat breakfast, walk to campus, get my computer set up, etc. Well, I forgot one small but important detail. We're an hour behind you guys in North Carolina, so I actually woke up at 8:00 and had 45 minutes to get ready, walk to campus, and sign into UNC's web site to register for classes. So, I frantically dressed and got my things together so I could head out the door. I felt bad because my host mom woke up earlier than normal to fix pancakes for me before I left, and I didn't even have time to eat them. I explained the situation to her, and she understood but I still felt bad! We just saved them for the next morning! I'm happy to report that I made it to the Tec just in time to sign in and register for my classes. I got all the classes I wanted so I'm looking forward to a good spring semester.

The next day we went to church and to the city-wide book and artesanry fair! I thoroughly enjoyed myself! We spent hours walking through the exhibition hall picking out books. I gave myself a limit of 4 before I even walked in the door because aside from the money, I have to think about the extra weight that will be added to my suitcases! haha I settled on the following: Amor en los tiempos de cólera (Love in the Time of Cholera) by García Marquez, De amor y de sombra (Of Love and Shadows) by Isabel Allende, Por un día más (For One More Day), and a book of sayings and idioms in Spanish. Since it was a book fair, a lot of the books were discounted. My roommate also bought several books, then we headed to the artesanry fair. Each state in Mexico was represented at the fair, and there were so many beautiful things. I bought a few gifts there and some things for myself as well. Overall it was a great weekend!

This weekend has been pretty calm. I've had some things to turn in and homework to do, but I've also had some time at night to start reading my new books. It's a slow process because García Marquez and Allende are excellent authors with a rich vocabulary...all that on top of the fact that they're in Spanish! haha It's going to be a fun challenge for me, and I'll be learning lots of new words. Well, I'm going to head to the house for supper. I love you all and am praying for you always!

Next entry: Birthdays, Church, ExpoTEC, and the Ranch!
