Monday was a day trip to Monaco from Nice. It is a 40 minute bus through the scenic and mountainous countryside. Went to see the casino but couldnt get in because of a strict dress code. Im guessing by all the Ferraris, Bentleys, and Lamborghanis in the parking lot a backpackers attire just woulddnt cut it!
Monaco is built up a moutainside so just walking around offered some incredible pics. The marina is full of massive yahts and sailboats. Money is evident everywhere. Went to the Monaco palace where the royal family lives. It was guite a steep hike up the mountain from the marina to the palace overlooking Monaco. Interestingly Monaco has been ruled by the same Grimaldi family since 1297, when Francesco Grimaldi, dressed as a monk, overtook the guard at the palace which was then a Genovan fortress.
Got to go and catch my train to Les Spezia Italy. I will add more to this later.
