East timor was colonized by Portugal, in 1975 declared its independence, but one year later indonesia invaded and occupied Timor, in 1999 United Nations sponsored act of self-determination, Indonesia relinquished control of the territory and East Timor became the first new sovereign state of the twenty-first century on 20/05/2002. Now is a beautiful country that is becoming a surviving by itself, but UN, Australia, Portugal, Brazil support still. The Temorese are a really friend people, always have a big and beautiful smile in their face and also try to help you all the time, even they don't speak your language. The main language was portuguese, nowadays the maiority speaks Tetum and a few speaks Portuguese and English. There is a lot Portugueses teachers around there teaching Portuguese to it comeback to be the main language. There is not much job, so they try to do everything to have money, and than....has a lot lot lot of 'small shops' (barraquinhas) and they sell everything that you can imagine!!!! You gonna see my pcts!!! Also, Timor is becoming a Tourist destination, has a rich natural beauty just needs, of course, a time do develop more and more, training the timorese to be guide and stafs like that, anyway, I really enjoyed my short time over there and I wish Timor be a great destination for people's holiday!!!
