24 August 2008 - we both successfully completed our skydives at Mission Beach!! It was the best thing we have ever done! We got picked up from Cairns at 7.30am and arrived at the Mission Beach skydiving office around 9.30am. After a bit of hanging around we were geared up and bundled into a small aeroplane along with our cameramen who filmed and took pictures the whole way through. Soon we were heading upwards until we reached 14,000 feet, then the doors opened and within seconds everyone had jumped - it all went so fast! Tracey jumped third and I jumped last (fifth) I still can't believe Tracey did it, especially as she hates heights. She was fine until she was sitting at the door and looking down at what she was about to do then the words 'Oh God Nooooooooo' were uttered but it was too late - she was gone! When it was my turn we shuffled to the door and before I had time to take in what I was about to do we were hurtling through the air at 120 mph! As we jumped we twisted round so we were facing up looking at the plane, it was so bizarre! The we spun back round to face earth. Freefalling for 60 seconds was the best feeling ever but it didn't last long enough. The parachute was jerked open and soon we were gliding downwards looking onto the Great Barrier Reef, tropical islands and Mission Beach. The views were breathtaking. All too quickly it was over as we swooped down to the beach and landed gently on the sand. As soon as I saw Tracey we both simultaneously said we wanted to go straight back up and do it again! The whole experience was totally amazing!! Looking into doing another one in New Zealand!
