Saturday morning, after a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we headed out for a walk. First, we strolled along the neighborhood where Kalle's former in-laws had lived, as he pointed out different memories along the way. We stopped to chat with an old acquaintance of Kalle's in order to catch up on some neighborhood gossip before stopping by the house where Kalle's in-laws had lived. Out of pure curiosity, we decided to pay a visit to the new owner, who was kind enough to invite us in to take a look at the improvements they had done to the inside of the house. Kalle really appreciated this opportunity to re-visit some of the memories from that house that he knew so well. We continued our way through the neighborhood to the entrance of the Vaukaleden nature trail, which is lovely 2-mile walk into the forest along a handicap-accessible ramp maintained by the city. When the ramp comes to and end, the trail continues up Öberget (Island Mountain), which is the highest point within the city limits. We walked along the narrow, winding trail in the beautiful forest that led to the top of Öberget. It was from that vantage point that we took the pictures over-looking the calm little city of Arjeplog. We continued walking along the trail to the other side of the relatively small mountain, and then walked along the regular paved roads and sidewalks back into town to have lunch. After lunch (which was unfortunately the worst pizza we'd ever tasted), we walked around the downtown area a bit before going back to the hotel to freshen up and get ready for our evening plans.
