Cappadocia, what can I say? Yet another place where I have been made to feel so welcome. I stayed at the Gultekin Motel for 5 days and loved every minute of it. Oruc the owner and I got on like a house on fire and as they are understaffed it wasn’t long before I started to muck in and help out occasionally. You know, hanging the washing up, taking empty plates away at breakfast, that sort of thing. If the truth be known I really quite enjoyed it! Oruc wanted me to stay and work for the rest of the season and has also asked me to go back next year and work for him for 4 months. Mmmmm food for thought but for now travelling is more important and Istanbul is calling.
Last night he took me out for a traditional Turkish meal to say thank you which was very kind of him.
The views of Goreme Valley from the balcony of the motel were amazing as my photos show and it was a sight that I never grew bored of seeing. Every morning as the sun came up the sky was full of hot air balloons, one morning I counted 23!
I am ashamed to say that I didn’t get out and about as much as I should have done but churches and ruins are not really my thing.
I just wish I could pick Cappodocia up and put it near the sea. It has been most relaxing but if there is one thing that I miss it is my beach walks and swimming in the ocean.
Istanbul next and I leave at 6 tonight on an over night bus, arriving early hours of tomorrow.
As always I hope you are all well and happy?
All my love
Kay x
