Another change of country.... our last as time is running out fast! Am loving Thailand so far, possibly because we're in Chiang Mai which is reportedly much calmer and hassle free than Bangkok. I think we're gettting a bit immune to seeing new places- Chiang Mai is a lovely town, but I cant find much to describe it other than that, its harder to find truly new things to comment on. Except there are LOADS of temples, on every street corner, beautiful buildings covered in gold plate and with dragons leading up to the front door. Which are all quite impressive. There are also lots of prostitutes, which is quite strange, since I dont think ive ever seen one before. Spent Tuesday night playing pool in a bar with a prostitute with a CD of Christmas music on in the background. Very bizarre.
We've jsut come back from a 2 day trek in the jungle, which was really good fun too, despite being hard work (I always tell myself I really like trekking, until it comes down to actually doing it) and very wet. We slept in a hut made out of bamboo,all 12 of us in one kind of giant extended bed on the floor, so no-one got much sleep. Then this morning we went on an elephant ride, which was pretty impressive,especially as our elephant kept stopping to tear up whole trees for breakfast. 2 days ago I went climbing for the day as well, which was really fun... I think. Ive never had something give me such an adrenaline rush, at times I felt like i was going to cry from being so scared, and yet somehow its left me wanting to do more.
Anyway,we have a fun next 2 weeks coming up, of a crash course in massage tomorrow, then a trip to bangkok and then some more island life! Looking forward to seeing everyone soon tho. Loads of love ,Laura and Timx xxx
