Taken from my book OUR SUMMER IN ESTONIA (www.amazon.com) "Tallinn is graced by a jewel-box, the national opera house and concert hall pleasingly named 'ESTONIA.' The theater opened in September 1913 offering a translation of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Extensively damaged by Soviet bombing in WWII, it lay in ruins for for years. The renovation, finally undertaken in the late 1950's, using Soviet German prisoners of war for labor, was Stalinist in style. The building has undergone a more recent renovation and is as spic-and-span as can be...once inside, like opening a jewel box, a dazzling, intimate, affectionate, experience awaits. I encourage everyone visiting Tallinn, to attend a performance at ESTONIA.
