Swirls of Color

I feel as though these entries have been crazy, as my mind is inundated with new smells, tastes, sounds, swimming in swirls of color. Everything is so overwhelming, I cannot even begin to take it all in. I love Granada, it is a wonderful city to spend a week in, lazily strolling the crowded streets and trying local cuisine. Yesterday we left the beutiful beaches of SJDS behind, and entered the bustling city of Granada. Our new school seems intense, but beautiful, and our homestay is just incredible. We are staying with a very wealthy city family where there are several other people staying as well. There is a girl around our age who teaches spanish, and thus her spanish is amazing, and I am insanely jealous. Yesterday we took a boat which slowly meandered through some 300 islands. The boat was slow and the water was so dirty i thought iŽd get disentary just looking at it. Regardless, the highlight of the trip was when a monkey climbed aboard and ate fruit out of our guideŽs hand. It was cute, although I was nervous at the prospect of having a wild monkey aboard our boat and about two feet from where i was sitting. After dodging crazy wasps, we finally made it back to the spanish school, where Moe convinced me to eat pizza. The pineapple piza turned out to be amazing (my first good pizza in latin america..) and we wanted more but finally decided against it since dinner was only an hour away.... We wandered through the streets, and around this beautiful plaza-park where we bought cookies and this weird bread stuff that was, in fact, not cookies. As we walked back to our house, I handed out some of the cookies to the local street children, dodged a few hundred horses, carts, busses, and cars, Nicaraguans, until we were safely back inside our beautiful casita.
