pues, its been a while... hope you all are well.
i have to take a moment to wish eleanor a happy birthday! she turned one yesterday and today is her party. i talked to all the dogs in the village and i think we are going to arrange a private jet from llano largo to hyde park so they can attended the party tonight. carlitos and golber are really excited for the doggy bags stace!
our group spent our independence day on the beaches in santa clara, cocle. besides the cheap hostal resort there is really not much there. in fact, there was not even a chino (or mini-super, names i find offensive and hilarious) close by. these small markets are called chinos because chinese people generally work the counter, or mini-supers because panamanians got confused and took the first part of supermarket instead of the correct part of the word. this situation pretty much sums up some racial and lingual issues i have noticed. here, its not considered offensive to call someone by their race. also, the spanish here is all mixed up in english and the pronunciation is quite confusing. by now im more than used to it, i actually have caught my accent forming around their slur... which is beautiful.
