The Wilderness

This place is known as the Wilderness. Seriously. 6 million acres of wildland to do what you please. One road into the park allows those who are looking for the ultimate experience in exploration whether it be wilderness or personal. You make your own tracks. Just don't leave anything at all (even buried human waste) or you'll attact bears. Grizzly's are in this area, slightly less aggressive than the Black Bears that are found further south near Seward. Every person who choses to enter the park must be aware of bear, moose and caribou behaviour. DON'T RUN AWAY FROM A BEAR! Through rocks at it and fight!

Having read 'Into the Wild' Chris McCandless seems like an unaware and uneducated seeker of something possibly unknown to even himself. But to enter the wilderness without a single necessary supply must have seemed like fun at the time. Good on him for going for it, but the locals here say too bad he didn't take more rice. It's even illegal NOT to pick up hitchhikers in winter because a person can freeze to death in just a few hours. 40 below can do it to you I hear.
