Dusseldorf, Day 5
The day started in Eisenach, eating breakfast and checking out of the hotel. I walked to the central train station and caught the 9:59 to Dusseldorf. The trip lasted about 4 hours and the views reminded me of Indiana, but with more hills. I saw corn fields and hay bails along the way. I did notice a number of solar panels on the houses.
I arrived in Dusseldorf. Triena and Steffani found me and drove me to their place. They gave me a tour of the old city which was fun. We walked along the Rhine (or Rhein) River, the longest bar in the world, the outdoor food market, Dunkin Donuts, etc. Dusseldorf seems to be a thriving city with lots of events taking place.
Even though it was the 4th of July, it didn't feel like it to me. I kept forgetting that people at home are probably starting the grill, going to parties, and waiting for the fireworks to start. I hope everyone had a good time in the US.
