FROM BOTH OF US, TO ALL OF YOU: A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
Brisbane is Australia's up and coming city. It's the city that consistently records the highest rates of population growth. Situated between the Gold and Sunshine Coast it has gained a reputation as the nations most visited holiday destination. And holiday time it was.The biggest of the year and extremely crowded.
Here we celebrated Christmas, eating ice cream in +36C degrees and listening to Christmas carols in the park. Christian miss the snow and Aivi miss the Swedish ginger cookies and we both miss family and friends. But the snow capped mountains in NZ and this Santa Claus photo taken of us in Fiji was all we got this year. You can imagine that we appreciated your holiday greetings reaching us through cyberspace.
Moreton Island
This is a convenient place reached via catamaran one hour away from Brisbane. This sand island is a National Park receiving restricted amount of visitors. Snorkeling around rust plagued bodies of eleven shipwrecks acting as an artificial harbor, we enjoyed the rich marine life. But the main attraction was the local residents, a family of wild dolphins visiting the shoreline each evening. A thrilling experience to hand feed these wild bottle nose dolphins. Overall a nice place but too way too crowded for us.
Moololaba Harbor A day trip to Underwater World made another dream come true. Dive with the sharks. Christian got to see the life through a shark's eye when he actually dived into the Oceanarium among these giant creatures. It was an exhilarating adrenalin rush for him to be face to face with these fearsome creatures. Don't worry, he got out safe from the tank with both his arms and legs intact.
