What an amazing city, Istanbul!

A dynamic city straddled between Europe & Asia. As we arrive in the old city we are greeted with the amazing Blue Mosque/Sultanahmet Mosque & Aya Sophia.

Our hotel was amazing & would highly recommend it to anyone www.emzoe.com
It was an old Turkish bath building converted into about 26 rooms/suites. It is located in the heart of the old city making it ideally located for most of the attractions.

The classic stereo type of the moustache is confirmed here. Two thirds of men sport a 'tash and apparently 30% believe it is a sign of virility. However 70% of women found facial hair unattractive. Is the 'tash on the way out? Also another crazy fact is that the 2nd most popular sport in Turkey is oil wrestling, where burly men in leather shorts lather themselves up with olive oil and go at it (what the....) Unfortunately we didn't witness this!!

The doner kebap is the centre of the turkish diet & we ate our fair share. Also a food highlight was the fresh fish sandwiches straight off boats on the side of the Bosphorous.

The Grand Bazaar & Spice Bazaar were also incredible with copious amounts of turkish delight. We also experienced a cruise on the Bosphorous which was great. All in all it was a fantastic break & would love to go back again!!
