One of my favorite resturants in Slovenia, Gostilna Lectar. Located in Radovljica (ra-dyov-nye-cha) it serves fine food and authentic Slovenian dishes such as buckwheat cakes, local saugsage cooked in hog's grease, and beef livers cut into small pieces and served with onions, parsnips and gravy.. The name Lectar derives from Slovenian heartshaped buckwheat cakes, as shown in the sign hung over the door. On a summer's eve the entire back of the restaurant opens onto a patio looking out on the mountains in the fading light. The village is closed to all automobile traffic and has some houses in the square that date back to the 1400's. There are more photos and descriptions of this place, one of my all time favorites in my book Our Summer in Slovenia.
