Oh my it's been a while and how lazy I have been. Perhentian Kecil was just as I remembered it and within a day of arriving it felt as if I had never been away. As I said before part of the reason for coming back was to do my Open Water Diving course which I can happily announce I passed with flying colours. I am lucky enough to say that seeing turtles, blue spotted stingrays and black tip reef sharks is now almost an every day occurrence when diving! Having said that sometimes I discovered snorkling is just as exciting on Perhentian, as I saw a metre long dark coloured ray (species unknown) and 2 reef sharks when out with Linda, my new Russian friend.
Talking of friends, Aaron and Wayne from Bangkok, enjoyed their well deserved break. It was fantastic to see them and they stayed for over a week. We had some real laughs, they are always good company. The four of us, including Linda had a 'girlie' night in giving each other facials and applying facemasks!!! We also went fishing for our lunch one day, off of a disused pontoon and caught 8 fish. Linda was the brave one, she killed them, descaled and gutted them. Then Aaron and I built the fire and cooked them.
Not to mention a very drunken last night when Aaron and I went skinny dipping in the sea.
After the boys left Linda and I were pretty much inseperable. She taught me how to make beautiful jewelry using shells from the beach and in return I gave her English lessons. We shared some good times and I have made another lifelong friend.
Life on the same island for 18 days was enough and I decided move on and to spend my last 2 weeks on Palau Kapas. So yesterday I said goodbye to Linda who is off to Thailand and caught the local bus to Terrengannu. It was RM8 (1pound) for the 2 hour 30 minute journey. Once here I stocked up on coffee, hair conditioner, suncream, cash and necklace making stuff!
So later today I'll be getting a cab to Merang jetty and head out to Kapas. I can't wait..........
As far as I know there is no internet connection on the island so things will go quiet again for a while.
I hope everyone back home is ok? My UK mobile is working if anyone feels the need to get in touch. Congratulations to Danny and Adel who have announced they are going to have a baby, fantastic news.
Well only 2 weeks left now till I head home, my trip is coming to an end. Time to start thinking about the next one......
