Today I woke up entirely too early to go to Cambridge. But it’s okay though, because we had like a three hour series of bus rides. And guess what else? I totally saw platform 9 ¾ like in Harry Potter. It was all kinds of exciting. We got to Cambridge and headed into town looking for places to go punting. I was a little worried, but it turned out to be super-awesome. Not just regular awesome. It was scary at first because you just stand on this boat and have to balance on it. Like slow surfing. And you use this huge stick to push and steer yourself and your friends down the river. It might be a little easier if there weren’t a million other boats in your way. And like, there are these bridges you have to go under as well, which adds to the difficulty AND to the fun. It was actually one of the coolest things I’ve done so far. I got kind of sunburned, but that’s good, right? I mean it wasn’t that bad. After that we walked around some more and took a bus tour through the town. We listened to commentary through headphones about the various parts of the city. There was also this World War II memorial set up for everyone who died at sea and stuff. There were rows and rows of grave markers and then a wall with a bunch of names. It was pretty cool, and apparently the land was a gift given to the U.S. by England- so technically, we were on American soil. Weird, huh? Afterward we went back around the city for a while and ate at this pub. It was pretty good. The train ride back was almost the same as the one on the way there! Can you believe that?
