Day 28 Trip to Tatra Mountains We left Krakow mid day and hopped aboard a local bus that took us to Zakopane in Poland where we got a charter to the Slovakia border. Then we got another bus that took us up to Tatra Lomnica. The Tatra mountains are gorgeous, most of the area around them where we were at was flat and then there were these jutting peaks coming out of the ground. We had dinner at the Pesione we were staying at and then had a relaxing night.
Day 29 Hiking the Tatras We took a train over a few towns to begin our hike through the mountains. We took a fernicular up a ways and then did about a 9K hike up the mountain. It was very beautiful and a good workout. When we got to the end there was a fernicular that went up higher but it was expensive and to be honest scary. The thing was on a cable about 300 feet up and it was windy. We went halfway down on a ski lift type thing and then we rented this little go kart buggy things that are close to the ground to cruise down the rest of the way... that was a big thrill. That night we played some games and just chilled out and ate at another local restaurant.
The Tatras were very scenic mountains and it would be very interesting to go back in the winter sometime when the place is in full swing.
