Wauuu, time is utterly fast and impossible to pause it or even to slow it down...it runs...
I cannot believe that but it's real. More than a week ago I was sitting out with my friends in Sliac or Zvolen, enjoying my very last moments in Slovakia for three months and now I'm sitting in front of the computer during the night, at the reception of the Cactus Beach Hotel in Stalis, on Crete, in Greece =) blaaablaablaaa...
I think I've successfully changed my lifestyle what I mean is that days aren't days like used to be for me anymore and slept nights have transformed into night shifts at the reception. But I like this job, it's: "NICE, VERY NICE" as my colleague, night receptionist Michalis - Mike would say. I'm rather satisfied with it, at least for this moment.
Especially, if I compare it with a work that waiters do at the hotel restaurant...I'm a lucky guy, believe me. I can sit, I can connect to the internet, I can drink hot chocolate, I can visit a huge kitchen refrigerator, we've got here A/C....
And when I finish my night shift which begins at 11pm and it's over at 7am, I go for my breakfast to our staff canteen and then to my ready bed to catch up with my sleep. You know, I'm sleeping till lunch and then my day starts, it's approximately hmm 3-4pm. Yes, it's my holiday time =). Usually, I go to the beach where I sunbathe, swim or read something. geee! I've brough here with me quite a lot of books!! I'm very curious if I read them all. I've tried learning some Greek from a book but it was so boring, so I've started with French. I really like a book so maybe I'm going to learn something new! We'll see.
If I don't go to the beach, I keep on sleeping...
As you can see, I'm getting used to a new lifestyle, it's not that bad nor awesome, it's somewhere in the middle.
Oouuu yeah, I've almost forgotten to mention the people who I'm living with now. They aren't just Greeks! The hotel staff is quite international there are people from Greece for sure but also: 6 Slovaks, several Lithuanians, more Romanians, one Hungarian, Italians, Germans... A lot of them is very kind, helpful so it wasn't such difficult for me to find my ways, here in Greece.
The Cactus Beach Hotel is one of the largest hotels I've ever seen. It's capacity is somewhere over 1200 guests + Sunny beach (both are the property of one man, the biggest bost, the owner of the hotel) which has 450 beds for its guests, it consists of at least 20 liveable buildings for guests, there are 4 pools, several bars and restaurants plus one taverna. The beach is sandy.
One more thing. The place where I stay is called Stalis but I've seen Stalida as well. It's a smaller inhabitated place, let's call it village which is approximately 30-40 kms from the capital of Crete - Heraklion where is the airport. We're on the north coast of the island. There is a small but more lively town nearby, called Malia. There are many pubs, restaurants, discos...and I don't know what else. yeah! It's full of English speaking guest, I suppose British people. I've been there just once, without a camera, so there are no photos yet.
Here, I'd like to say thank you one more time to my friend former classmate PATO who lended me his old digital camera and thanks to him you'll be able to see photos from my three-month stay on Crete. Efcharisto PATO!
