OK so in actual fact I'm actually writing this from the far side of this adventure but I thought it best to write a little journal for each day so that the pictures are displayed on the right days on the journal... so here goes...
Well, I have to admit I was pretty nervous about the whole 3 day camping tour in Uluru. Lets face it the thought of sleeping outside in a sleeping bag in the desert, in the winter, with all the spiders, snakes, dingos etc etc for company isn't exactly something that appeals on first pondering! But off I toddled to Sydney airport early Friday morning.
Upon arriving at Alice Springs, the first thing I noticed was... it was sunny and it was warm!!!! YAAAAAAY!! Finally, for the first time since arriving in Australia I was getting some proper Australian weather!
Next stop Alice's Secret; the hostel I'd booked myself in for the night before the tour and for the night after the tour. It was clean, it was quiet, there were 2 dogs... it was perfect! After dumping my stuff in my room (ensuring no bags were left open for any curious spiders or snakes to crawl in) I headed towards Alice Springs, needing to get some urgent supplies for the tour (hat, fly net, sunglasses). Alice is small, but has everything you'd need. Water (beer), food, sunglasses... what else do you need in the desert?!
So I did my shopping, got my ultra sexy hat with in-built fly net and I mooched on back to the hostel for an early night... 6am start tomorrow!
