Day 11, Rome Yesterday we got dropped off by Katja at the Chiusi train station early in the morning to head to Rome, the reason we left early was to get to Rome in time to see a Futbol match, soccer for those in the us, between Lazio and Napoli. The train to Rome was nice with views of hills and small villages. Once we got to Rome we easily found our hostel, Funny Palace, and got settled in real quick. Then we took the metro to the other side of town and hoofed it up to the stadium. We got there and found the ticket office, but funny thing happened. We bought tickets and started walking the way the lady said and everything was tennis stuff, we quickly realized we bought tennis tickets... way too funny. We went back and got our money back and the lady said we couldnt buy tickets the day of... it sucked, no scalpers, nothing. We desperately tried to find the Lazio shop which somebody said would sell them but once we found it it was closed. So no fubol match... we made the best of things by finding an Irish pub that would show the game that really mattered in Rome, the Roma game, they had to win to win the whole Series A italian league. The tied though and so they didn't win the league. We walked around a bit seeing the spanish steps, and a brief glimpse of the colloseum before grabbing dinner at a nice italian restaurant.
Day 12 Rome Tourists Tody we headed out around 10 to hit the main sites. We started with the place where the chariot races were, then the Colloseum. The Colloseum was awesome, really... Then we hit the metro and cruised up the Vatican. It was so impressive and had the most amazing artwork, statues, etc... of any place I have ever seen in person. We grabbed lunch at a chinese restaurant, the food was ok but after eating pizza and pasta for every meal it was a nice change of pace.
Thats all for now, hope everyone is doing well! I hope to post some pictures tonight. Kevin
