The weqther has been a little off these last few days with the exception of monday (when I burned myself to a crisp at the beach) and yesterday.
There was a wonderful antiaue flea market in the old town the other day. I saw so many many things that I would have loved to have picked up. Unfortunately, neither my wallet nor my backpack are big enough.
On tuesday, I continued to attract people over the age of 60 for some reason, but that's OK, they seem to be the only people who are willing to sit and listen to me butcher their language. I met a lovely lady at the Russian Cathedral. Actually, I've learned that people are slightly more forgiving when I say "I'm sorry, I'm from Canada and I don't speak much french." rather than "I don't understand French." Anyways, she started telling me all about the wonderful relationship between Canada and France and how much the RCMP are respected all over the world. At least I think that's what she was saying. Even though I'm practicing and studying and reading and listening to French everyday, I still have a long way to go before I ever become bilingual.
Wednesday was spent in Monaco. I had some pretty high expectations so its not surprising that it was a slight let down. I saw a few fancy schmancy cars but they weren't absolutely everywhere. the casino is nice enough but mostly trompe l'oeil so not overly impressive. I also visited the oceanographic museum and acquarium, the cathedral where Prince ranier and Princess Grace are buried, and the royal apartments. I'm sad to say that I didn't bump into the Prince and didn't invite me out to any fabulous parties...maybe another time.
I'm hoping to make my way to Cannes tomorrow to do some celebrity stalking. i keep seeing old footage on tv so I'm not sure who's there now. There was a man with a family here the other day, walking around. I have no idea who he was but I have a feeling he's probably somebody famous wherever he's from. It's not everyday you see a 6 foot man with long blonde hair, a long satin jacket over sparkly navy jeans who's more than a little interested in what Louis vuitton has in their window...then again maybe it is here.
