Wow.
Just... wow.
I can't spend too much time, here's a the lowdown on my homestay 30 mins north of Chiyaphum (Chee-ya-poom).
1) My billet-Dad knows pretty good english, and he is a huge joker (like my real Dad!) 2) My homestay HAS A SHOWER AND FLUSH TOILET!! (I know, spoiled. Doing the dip-the-cup-and-slosh-cold-water-on-you thing was a bit painful.)** 3) I walk out the door and end up in the driveway of the school, but they insist on driving me. 4) I have a host Mom (no english), Dad (good english) who are both teachers at my school, and a new brother (9 yrs) and sister (16 yrs). 5) I am so going to get fat, people keep feeding me! 6) Mangosteen and 'fuzzy fruit' (I always forget the name) are amazing. 7) Thai culture is so friendly and amazing, we had a celebration today to honor a new teacher, and all of the staff of her old school came to party with us! I learned a bit of Northern Thai dancing, and made some friends at another school. I am going to go visit them later. 8) I am never going to another wake/funeral. As interesting as it was, everyone (even the Monks!!) were pointing and staring at me during the whole thing. People were talking loudly about me as well. How do I know, you ask? This is what I heard.... Thai thai thai thai FARANG thai thai thai thai FARANG thai thai thai ... etc. (Farang is pronounced fah-lang and means foreigner) 9) These people are good for my ego, they keep calling me beautiful! 10) Dinner time, more yummy Thai food!
** I don't understand how the no toilet paper thing works. You use the water hose, but then how do you dry off? Someone explain, pretty please?
