The first night I stayed at the legendary Chung King Mansions. Legendary because they are basically guest house slums. It was fine and safe but not the greatest place to stay.
Not surprisingly, each street is packed to the gunnels with people and commerce. It is also hot and sticky which adds to the fun.
Now I am staying in Shek-O which is hard to believe is still Hong Kong. It is a quiet beach town with lots of mountains and lots of green. I did an easy 3 hour hike today around the island and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle.
I met up with a buddy from Nova Scotia the first night and got pissed. It was so much fun. Wine, women and song. The area was called Wan Chai . Philippine and Thai women hustle drinks for commission. Slow day the next day.
Tomorrow or Tuesday I will make my way up to the peak and go back into the hustle and bustle.
Hong Kong turned out to be a bit of a booze fest. Two hard nights of drinking and sin required two days of rest. I did meet my buddy’s friends and they were lots of fun. I ate at some great restaurants where they go so you kind of get the local tour of the place which was good. On the second last day we went to old British pub from the colonial days and went up to the Peak where you can say some amazing views of Hong Kong. All in all Hong Kong was a blast.
