Hello everyone!

Well we have been having a great time! I am still scooping icecream and the weather is still great!

A few days ago we rented a car for a day and did a day trip from Cairns on my day off! We started out by visiting Crystal Cascades, a fresh water hole in a gorge not far from Cairns which was a really nice place for a walk. Then we headed north to some of the city's northern beaches. We stopped for lunch at Ellis beach before heading to Hartleys Crocodile Adventure farm!

We planned to stay for the afternoon and started out by going on a lagoon cruise where they keep crocodiles :o) There were tons in the water and lyingon the beaches. Then, in order to intice them close to the boat they hold chicken on a fishing rod out to the crocodiles and they jump out of the water next to the boat to get the food. It was really neat! And the sound when they snapped their jaws shut was deafening! It was great. Then we headed to a tour of the crocodile farm where we saw some baby crocodiles. At 2:00 they had a snake show where they showed us a Taipan, the deadliest snake in the world. Apparantly one drop of venom from a Taipan has enough venom to kill 50,000 mice! After the snake show witha guy who looked and talked like steve irwin ( I swear!) we went for a walk to see the Cassowary's, huge ostrich like birds from Australia and New Guinea. After this they had a crocodile attack show where a trainer goes in the croc pen and feeds him and show how crocdiles do the death roll...I cant tell you how many times the audience gasped when the croc nipped at the trainer! :o) After this we did a few more nature walks where you see some wildlife and freshwater crocs in pens before heading to the koala feeding! Oh, and I got to pet one! So cute! After watching the Cassowary feeding we left and headed back to Cairns where we stopped at Lake Placid and the Barron Gorge, both which were nice spots for a walk. On the way back it was dark so we drove up to a Look out point over the city to see Cairns at night which was absolutely beautiful!

We have enjoyed our time here so mucha nd it is hard to believe we only have 2 weeks left before we fly to Melbourne for a few days!

We have also booked an overnight trip to the great barrier reef on a boat much like the one we were on at the Whitsunday islands. Beacause we loved it so much the first time!

Miss you all! Keep reading!

Love,

Jenn
