Travelling to the north island

2008-04-15, Wellington, New Zealand

Today we went to the north island, staying the night at Wellington. We got the Cook Straight ferry across (whilst eating chocolate cake...) When we arrived in Wellington we were a bit shocked by suddenly being in a city centre after driving around the deserted state highways on the south island, so we all got a little stressed and lost, but ended up managing to park the campervan at Queens Quay so we could wander around town. We didnt stay long there, so we didnt really get to see the sights, and we were a little tired so we didn't think Wellington was overly special. I'm sure i would think differently if we could stay there for longer, but we were off the next day to drive up to Taupo!
