We decided to take the slightly more scenic route from Woodstock to Quebec City as the boredom of the main highways really gets to you after a while. The other benefit of this route was that it meant using the worlds longest covered bridge in the world. What a treat. After a few hours on the road and a quick stop for lunch we arrived in Quebec City.
We have two nights booked here. One in a hostel and the other at the famous Fairmont hotel. Both are located within the walls of the old city. We headed straight to the hostel, checked in and headed out on foot. We walked around the old city walls past the citadel and old battleground of General Wolfe and co. Then we started to explore the side streets which had a really European feel to them, people even spoke French.
We were on a budget so we cooked at the hostel before heading back in to town to sample a few of the bars. One of which had a bee menu of over 200 beers from all around the world. Just about every beer drinking nation was represented, except for Australia. I guess that they couldn’t find an Australian beer worthy of the menu.
