(and potentially not over-exaggerating either!)
I did a skydive at Lake Taupo, and it was BRILLIANT!! Took all day to end up doing it as the sky was really overcast. Meant to jump at like 10.30 but didn't jump until 4.30! The other two went kayaking in the morning, so i was just in the van reading and hoping the sky would clear. When i got to the air base, we finally got geared up, a rather flattering red jump suit (although not as bad as the Sydney Harbour Bridge outfit!) and climbed into a yellow plane with teeth painted on the front. It was really small and they really pack you in! Just two benches run down the inside and you all sit squashed together. At about 8000 feet my instructor strapped me to him, then at 12000 feet we jumped! 12000 feet is HIGH, didn't realise how high it was, but it took like 10-15 mins to get up there! As we jumped i was sat on my instructors lap with my legs tucked under the outside of the plane then fell backwards out of it, which made me leave my stomach with the plane! Then he twisted us round and we were just falling!!! It was sooo awesome, a little hard to breathe at times since all the air was rushing into us! The views over Lake Taupo were beautiful! At about 3000 feet (45 seconds later) he pulled the tab (luckily my instructor was really nice so i trusted him to pull the cord!!) and the chute came out. After some twists and turns we landed adn had to do a very cheesy video about being glad we were back on the ground (very glad i don't have a copy as it was very embarrasing!)... (Sorry about the waffling, but it was AWESOME!)
That night we went round some of Lizzy's relatives for dinner and they let us stay in their house (which was a nice break from Bertha) and they gave us some good advise about the north island, they were such nice people. The next morning we had breackfast by the lake then drove up to Rotorua...
