On sunday we drove to Blenheim, a place famous for all its vineyards so we got ourselfs booked onto one of the tours for the next day. We were thinking this was probably tours of how they vineyards worked and how the made the wine, however it was actually just wine tasting, we ended up going to six different vineyards and at each one they gave us a sample of about six or seven wines. We were all feeling a little worse for wear by the end, but did learn what wines we liked and disliked by the end the pinot gris was a big hit..whatever that means! It was good fun though we were in a group with two older couples travelling together, two kiwis and two aussies, they were really friendly and made it all a good laugh. We also got to go to a chocolate factory at the end and try some really nice chocolates.
On tuesday we got up early to get the ferry over to the north island and had a look around Wellington, it was so much busier than anywhere else we had been in New Zealand so we were not overly keen on it plus we were very tired, we had a bit of a look round town but didn't really do much. Big news though..i know drink tea! (crazy huh?!). Although i showed my lack of tea experience by accidently putting salt in instead of sugar (very disgusting!) to be fair i was very tired! Next stop Lake Taupo.
