Today we climbed the Franz Josef Glacier! It was so much fun if a little tiring. We were supplied with yet another delightful outfit to climb the ice including some crampons which were pretty unusual to walk in! We walked to the terminal face of the ice and climbed up to topof the front. We were quite lucky as there werea couple of caves and crevises that we were allowed to walk and climb in, app they may have disappeared the next day as teh glacier is constantly changing. It was so beautiful, we had a good view down teh valley with the tropical rainforst and the blue ice was stunning. We even had a good view from the top10 campsite, but as it is such a small place everyone probably had a good view! We only did a half day trek on the ice as we have hearad of people wishing they didnt do the full day,and as we were off again the next day too......

Next entry: Marlborough wine... and lots of it!
